The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) is a an association of representatives who advocate for Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income claimants throughout the adjudicative process. Since 1979, NOSSCR has been providing continuing legal education to its thousands of members and public policy advocacy on behalf of those members and the people with disabilities they represent.

New Social Security Administration regulations take effect today providing for more flexibility and continued emphasis on holding disability hearings by video or telephone, with in-person hearings as needed. The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) continues to work with SSA on implementation details, and we encourage our members to review these new rules and switch to the revised forms HA-55 and HA-56. https://lnkd.in/gbnwXxQX

NOSSCR thanks Martin O’Malley for his year of service leading the Social Security Administration. It felt like a decade—we worked so hard—dozens of meetings, letters, phone calls, texts all in pursuit of the common goal of a highly functioning SSA. A fitting end to the year was a hearing today in Congress where telework was an issue (the photo below is of the parking lot at SSA HQ). One of the first things Commissioner O’Malley warned me about in December was parking at HQ was going to be difficult again! Interesting appropriations hearing today on the Hill—Martin O’Malley’s last as Commissioner of Social Security. Of note—there may well be some bipartisan agreement that SSI should be calculated annually (not monthly) as a way to save operations costs.
