?? Roads blocked. Aid delayed. Lives disrupted. In the West Bank, Israeli military operations, a surge in settler attacks, and increased restrictions on freedom of movement are putting Palestinian lives at risk.

关于我们
The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. We protect displaced people and support them as they build a new future. We started our relief efforts after World War Two. Today, we work in both new and protracted crises across 40 countries. We specialise in six areas: food security, education, shelter, legal assistance, protection from violence, and water, sanitation and hygiene. We stand up for people forced to flee. NRC is a determined advocate for displaced people. We promote and defend displaced people's rights and dignity in local communities, with national governments and in the international arena. NRC’s Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva is a global leader in monitoring, reporting on and advocating for people displaced within their own country. We work with partners across the world through NORCAP, our global provider of humanitarian, development and peacebuilding expertise. NORCAP collaborates with local, national and international partners on finding sustainable solutions to meet the needs of people at risk. Around 15,000 humanitarians work with the NRC. Most of us are hired locally to work in the field, and a small number are based at our head office in Oslo. Many of our colleagues were once themselves forced to flee their homes. NRC assisted almost 10 million people worldwide in 2023, and with your support, we can help even more. In order to meet the needs of 117 million displaced people worldwide, we need to unite forces across sectors and work together as one team. Through mutual partnerships we are dedicated to finding unique solutions for people who have been forced to flee, helping them build a sustainable future for themselves and their communities. In 2024, NRC’s Livelihood and Food Security Programme, supported by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, provided young Syrians and Jordanians with online soft skills training to enhance their employability under the “Najahna” project. The training covered communication, job readiness, financial literacy, and labour law. Participants also received one-on-one coaching and cash support to assist in their job searches. A total of 1,010 youth completed the training, while 257 received coaching and cash assistance. Mohammed Shhadat, a medical lab graduate living in Irbid who aspires to become a medical technology entrepreneur, and Ahmed Al-Darayseh, a home-business owner raising livestock in Ramtha, were among those who benefited from these career guidance training workshops. The Najahna project is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, and is a five-year programme that aims to empower young people to become economically and socially active members of society.

“I am really happy to report that the system is working well, and in the few days we have been up and running, we have not had to resort to using the generator at all. On Thursday morning, we calculated that we would have used more than 480 litres of fuel in the time we have been relying on solar!” says Tracey CS van Heerden, NRC’s Area Manager in Aden, Yemen. ? With support from NRC’s Capital Fund, our area office in Aden has taken a major step toward solarising its operations. The shift from diesel-generated power to solar energy is expected to significantly reduce electricity costs—even when factoring in depreciation and operational expenses. Beyond cost savings, this transition will lower their carbon footprint and reduce reliance on both unstable grid electricity and diesel generators. ? We invite the private sector to get involved in NRC's Capital Fund. The fund has an initial focus of replacing diesel generators with solar technology. By transitioning to solar power through this fund, we will enhance the impact of our humanitarian work. This shift will help us reduce costs, mitigate risks, and lower our carbon footprint, ensuring that we provide more reliable and environmentally friendly aid to people forced to flee. Learn more in the video below, and if you want to be part of this initiative, please reach out to [email protected] for further details. https://lnkd.in/dQb7EzSM

Baidoa, Somalia: Dhahira is a displaced mother of five. She was able to rebuild her life, starting with a durable shelter and a place to call home again. “This home is safety and stability for my children,” she says. In collaboration with our partners, NRC constructed 200 shelters, offering displaced families long-term security and protection from harsh weather, a boost in living standards, and a place for normal family life to restart. Thanks to UK in Somalia for supporting this vital programme. Norwegian Refugee Council NORCAP - part of the Norwegian Refugee Council Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

The Afar region of Ethiopia is one of the most seismically active areas in the world. Recent earthquakes, reaching a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale, have left communities devastated, shattering lives and livelihoods. NRC is supporting people with essentials they need to rebuild their lives. But more help is urgently needed. The stories of Mohammed and Dahara paint a vivid picture of the human cost of this disaster and the resilience of those affected: https://lnkd.in/dDxqgjQD
