And that exports from Pennsylvania to Norway amount to over $260 million annually? This week Consul General Heidi Olufsen and Consul Signe Astrid Engli visited the great state of #Pennsylvania and the city of #Philadelphia. ??? With views of the historic Independence Mall, the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York met with representatives from the City of Philadelphia, NorCham Philadelphia, Inc. and our Honorary Consul in Pennsylvania susan satkowski. On the agenda was how the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York with its partners can enhance economic and cultural ties between Norway and the region. Norway and Pennsylvania share strong economic ties and historic roots that stretch back nearly 200 years. Building on these connections is important for fostering innovation, cultural exchange, and mutual growth. Norway’s Consul General in New York, Heidi Olufsen, had the pleasure of hosting this year's Team Norway meeting - gathering key players advancing Norwegian interests in North America. ??? Did you know the Security Council Chamber was a gift from Norway in 1952? Yesterday, CEO of Innovasjon Norge, H?kon Haugli, and Norway’s Consul General in New York, Heidi Olufsen, joined Team Norway members on a visit to the United Nations Headquarters ?? . The highlight? The iconic Security Council Chamber, designed by Norwegian architect Arnstein Arneberg. With its blend of Norwegian art, craftsmanship, and values, the Chamber was created to embody the noble aspirations of the UN Charter. The large mural in the chamber features the central image of a phoenix rising from the ashes of the world. According to its painter, Per Krogh, the work illustrates the effort to emerge from a dark past of war to achieve a better life. Another prominent feature of the Chamber is the iconic blue and gold wall tapestry – created by the important Norwegian textile artist Else Poulsson. Her concept incorporates the anchor of #faith, the growing wheat of #hope and the heart of #charity – enduring symbols of values that are needed just as much today as they were 75 years ago. This weekend, the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in New York hosted the annual Career Day in collaboration with The Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and ANSA - Association of Norwegian Students Abroad. Talented Norwegian students from whole of the #US and #Canada got to meet and network with some of the many Norwegian companies operating in the United States. ?? The day featured inspiring presentations from leading organizations, such as DNB, Equinor and Norsk Hydro, including an engaging keynote by Nicolai Tangen, CEO of Norges Bank Investment Management. ?? Proptech Mini Summit: ClimateTech x Real Estate A?great afternoon and evening at our yearly #PropTech Mini Summit last week, merging diverse perspectives to drive the future of real estate technology.?We are incredibly happy we got to introduce our #Nordic delegation of real estate professionals and proptech entrepreneurs, with influential real estate innovators and tech investors.? ? The upsides of visiting both New York and the US, the world’s most important market for property technology, are obvious. In New York buildings account for?as high as 70% of emissions and energy use. This number says a lot about the challenge, but also opportunities for good technological solutions. ? ? Allison Prescott, Aundre Oldacre, Javon Brown and Karl Liapunov discussed Innovation at the Intersection of Climate Technology in a great panel led by Lisa Mallner. We were also lucky to have Professor of Humanities Mark Lilla from Columbia University share his insights on the election and the political climate in the US with us. Our friends from New York City Economic Development Corporation were able to join through Nse-Abasi Esema, who told us about their plans for New York City, their approach to sustainability and jobs, the implementation of Local Law 97.? ?
