Did you know that more Jarlsberg cheese is consumed in the US than in all of Norway? ?? TINE SA, one of the largest Norwegian food companies, have had significant success in the US. The beloved Jarlsberg cheese is sold in 25.000 American stores, and TINE buys over 56 million liters of milk from American farmers. Last Friday, we had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Tine at our offices in New York, and got to learn about health benefits, their US production and how we can cooperate to spread Norwegian food and values throughout the US. We are looking forward to continue this relationship!

Showcasing Norwegian seafood in Boston!?? Norway’s extensive coastline offers a unique variety of delicious and healthy seafood. This week, we had the privilege of participating in Seafood Expo North America, the largest seafood conference in the United States. We were honored to have Norway’s Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy Marianne Sivertsen N?ss join us. ?The seafood industry is one of our most important industries and a high priority for the Norwegian government. The industry is a good example of how sustainability can be combined with economic value creation? said the Minister Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy during a roundtable with key Norwegian companies.? ? Norwegian seafood is not just a culinary delight; it also provides numerous health benefits to our consumers. Rich in essential nutrients, Norwegian salmon and other fish species contribute significantly to heart health, brain function, and overall well-being. We are thrilled that the U.S. has become Norway’s largest consumer market, reflecting the growing appreciation for our high-quality seafood. ? This year, we saw a record number of Norwegian companies showcasing the many positive aspects of our seafood! Together with our Team Norway colleagues from Innovation Norway, Norwegian Seafood Council and the Norwegian Embassy in Washington, D.C., we were lucky to meet and talk to many of them.

Norwegian architecture displayed at MoMA! ? At the heart of the port city of #Stavanger, you find the Geopark - a playground made entirely from elements that the oil industry no longer needed. Helen & Hard's Geopark, was supposed to be a one-year installation, but 17 years later it is still an important part of the cityscape - now also celebrated in New York City! ? The Museum of Modern Art's new exhibition "Down to Earth" is presenting architectural projects that aim to foster resilient communities and address climate change. Here, both the plan sketch and the model of Geopark are exhibited (both gifted to the museum by Their Majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in 2011), in great company with built environment from all over the world. The aim of Geopark was to create an urban space that would transform material from Norway’s petroleum industry into objects of play. The design process involved workshops with the local community and brought children on board, exploring together how Stavanger's waterfront could transition from its oil-fueled past into something more sustainable. The park "reflects a new current in Norwegian design - one that increasingly aspires to create open meeting spaces where people freely can gather." Said Her Majesty Queen Sonja in her speech at MoMA 14 years ago - a trend we still see today. ? Congratulations to the architects for getting their work featured again on such an important stage. Celebrating Norwegian Sports and Heritage in New York City! Did you know that there is a Norwegian soccer club in New York City? SC Gj?a Youth Soccer was founded by Norwegian immigrants in 1911 and is one of the oldest soccer clubs in the US. This week we were lucky to bring some Norwegian politicians to the soccer club: State Secretary Erlend K. Hanstveit from the Ministry of Culture and Equality, and Parliamentarians Grunde Almeland and Silje Hjemdal from the Standing Committee on Family and Cultural Affairs. Secretary Hanstveit, a former professional soccer player, also got to participate in their training sessions and answered questions from the players. When asked how he started playing professionally, Secretary Hanstveit responded: "At your age, it’s about having fun. You’re never going to be a good soccer player if you don’t have fun." Gj?a has included community work as an important part of their club after being inspired by their yearly visits to the Norway Cup. We got to learn about how they run their non-profit organization and their sister club, Academy 11 Ghana. Exchanging Insights on Gender Equality and Women's Rights Women's rights and gender equality are central to Norway’s national and foreign policy. Yesterday, we had an inspiring and insightful meeting with Commissioner Sideya Sherman of NYC Mayor's Office of Equity & Racial Justice, along with representatives from the NYC Commission on Gender Equity. We shared experiences and discussed common challenges related to #GenderEquality, #Inclusion, #Equity, and #RacialJustice. ? Commissioner Sherman spoke about the vibrant diversity of New York City and how the NYC Mayor’s Office of Equity and Racial Justice continues to drive initiatives to ensure that young people of color reach their full potential by providing access to educational, career, and wellness opportunities. NYC Commission on Gender Equity shared how they have?shaped policies to ensure every girl, woman, intersex, transgender, gender-nonconforming, and gender-nonbinary person throughout the five boroughs is treated equally and feels safe. The meeting took place in connection with the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women this week, and we were fortunate to have State Secretary Erlend K. Hanstveit from the Ministry of Culture and Equality and State Secretary Stine Renate H?heim from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with us to share their perspectives. From our own experience, we know how crucial gender equality and women’s participation have been for Norway to become a prosperous and stable country. Today, the world faces a challenging global anti-rights agenda, witnessing a rollback on women’s and girls’ rights, scaremongering, and attacks on diversity, inclusion, and gender equality. ? We must respond to this by speaking up even more strongly about our values. Out of high amount of competitors, we were selected to bring our advanced concrete scanning technology to Governors Island, just south of Manhattan, where we’ll help assess and extend the lifespan of 50 historic military buildings. This pilot project is about embracing circular construction practices, reducing waste, and contributing to New York City’s zero waste goals. By giving existing structures a second life, we’re proving that the greenest buildings are the ones that are already built.
