Northwestern University Master of Biotechnology Program (MBP) alumni Robert Reichert (MBP '22), Calliope Vaselopulos (MBP '23), and Violet Wang (MBP '22) recently participated in an AMA panel where they fielded questions from current MBP students. The panel provided valuable insights into how they secured their roles, tips for job interviews, advice on applying to PhD programs, and discussed strategies for negotiating job offers. Students appreciated the opportunity to network and mingle after the panel. A big thank you to Bobby (Robert), Calliope, and Violet for their time and contributions! #MBPNetwork #CareerTips #biotechnology

Preparing to make advances that transform the world.
关于我们
Northwestern’s Master of Biotechnology Program (MBP) prepares scientists and engineers for fulfilling and dynamic careers in biotechnology and associated professions. Extensive laboratory research, integrated coursework, training in current industry practices, and the soft skills necessary to excel in business prepare graduates to address and lead advances in healthcare, industrial biotechnology, biofuels, cleantech, and more. MBP is a 15-21 month, full-time program with an average class size of 30–40 students per year who progress through the program as a group. This ensures that students receive a high level of instructor attention and also creates the opportunity to form close bonds with their fellow classmates, which often transcend academia and continue into the workplace. Students have access to 80+ nearby leading research labs.

Synthetic biology relies on lessons from biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, and the social sciences. Training future synthetic biologists to understand concepts from all of those fields requires a unique framework, one that focuses not just on how research can be done but why research should be done. Researchers at Northwestern University, including Ashty Karim, Julius Lucks, and Danielle Tullman-Ercek developed such a framework. #biotechnology #syntheticbiology #stemeducation

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Central US Synthetic Biology Workshop 2024. The event, organized by Northwestern, brought together synthetic biology researchers and companies in the Central US to identify opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry, and government. MBP alums Dr. Bradley Biggs (MBP '14) and Hunter Brown (MBP '21) were in attendance at the event. As a part of the workshop, Dr. Biggs presented his postdoctoral work on understanding microbial community interactions. #SyntheticBiologyWorkshop2024 #syntheticbiology #biotech
