Big news for Quantum in Illinois! Northwestern University President Michael Schill and Chicago Quantum Exchange CEO Kate Timmerman have been appointed to the Board of Directors at Intersect Illinois. From President Schill: “I look forward to representing Northwestern’s international network of creators and innovators on the Board of Intersect Illinois as we build the state’s economy and ensure Illinois remains a global business destination.” INQUIRE is particularly excited, as Kate Timmerman, CEO of the Chicago Quantum Exchange, is also joining the board. Over 150 people gathered at a high school on Chicago's South Side to learn more about quantum science through card games and video games from STAGE Lab, and a science-based escape room. At the Chicago #QuantumSummit2024 this week, leaders tempered hype and hailed the momentum of #quantum technology as Illinois Gov JB Pritzker said his excitement and commitment to the field "cannot be overstated." The two-day event drew more than 600 people, helping fuel what leaders said was the “first inning” of a multi-generational, global effort to shepherd quantum technologies from the lab to practical use, build the #quantumworkforce, and potentially transform fields from medicine to finance to airplane navigation. Someday people will say, look at the overnight success that's occurred in quantum--but [it will have been] a '20 year overnight success.' And all of you are at the very front end.
