Strengthening public trust in research.
关于我们
We are dedicated to getting the public excited about and trusting in biomedical research. About thirty years ago, the Presidents and CEOs of our most respected research facilities recognized that public confidence in the integrity of research was essential to the future of medical discovery in our region. NWABR was born out of that commitment and stands today as the Northwest’s leading voice for understanding biomedical research and its ethical conduct. Through our many popular education outreach programs and resources, we help thousands of students and members of the general public appreciate science and its role in their lives. We empower citizens to make informed choices on issues related to biomedical research, facilitate dialogue about the principles, ethics and roles of scientific research, and build community across scientific and educational institutions. As a non-profit whose diverse membership spans academia, industry, non-profit research institutes, health care and voluntary health organizations, NWABR is a connecting bridge that educates our citizens about the people, the process and the promise of research.

Had a blast moderating The Role of IBC Communications panel at Northwest Association for Biomedical Research ‘s 2025 IBC Conference: Community Connections in Research. Excellent tips and anecdotes from Karen Hunt , Levi O'Loughlin, Ph.D. , and Kenna Gonzales. Science Needs Champions. Biomedical research is too important to lose to short-sightedness. https://lnkd.in/gM9-NFmY #nwabr #ibc #biosafety #biomedical #research #science #ScienceNeedsChampions

I want to thank Doretha Walker, MPA, PhD and Olga Balderas for their incredibly informative session today on understanding the history of and why researchers should include Strategically Excluded Populations at today’s Northwest Association for Biomedical Research IRB Conference: Community Connections in Research. We cannot go backwards! Diversity in clinical trials is good science. https://lnkd.in/gM9-NFmY #dei #clinicaltrials #diversity #IRB #biomedicalresearch #science #ScienceNeedsChampions

The Business Case for DEI in Clinical Trials, presented by Tara Coffin, is an incredibly important topic for researchers right now - good research is inclusive and studies all kinds of different people. Contrary to current backlash, DEI should NOT be a dirty word, plus there are economic benefits! Great article in The Seattle Times by @pnrigenetics about how federal research funding cuts will have devastating effects on lifesaving work. "Science is a long, interconnected process, where each experiment builds on the last.?As scientists share their findings, a breakthrough experiment in Alabama can lead to a new medication developed in Seattle. When funding is frozen, delayed or cut, clinical trials stop, labs go dark and young scientists — the future of innovation — are forced to choose other careers. The ripple effects aren’t theoretical; they’re brutal and immediate, delaying the development of treatments that could save lives." https://lnkd.in/gFHR_5_7 Northwest Association for Biomedical Research
