Our friends at Central States know how to bring the party - providing a day of fun to both our Shelter residents and Hope Academy students! Their visit turned an average day into a celebration, featuring a mouth-watering lunch from Tacos 4 Life and a pop-up, bouncy playground in our backyard. Plus, the arrival of the Kona Ice truck and its delicious snow cones had smiles all around. A big thank you to Central States for their incredible, long-standing support. Thanks to them, our little ones, and our big kids, enjoyed an afternoon relishing in the sweet, simple pleasures of childhood.

We are excited to announce the addition of Elizabeth Fischer to our board of directors! Fischer is currently the Vice President of National Accounts for Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC), a leading national wine and spirits distributor. In this role, she leads the team responsible for sales to the Mass and Club Channel, supporting key customers including Walmart, Sam’s Club, Costco, Target, and BJs. Additionally, her team is responsible for building national supplier relationships and supporting their sales strategy with key accounts. Supplier partners include Brown-Forman, Proximo Spirits, Riboli Family Wines, and Delicato Family Wines. Earlier this year, RNDC Walmart Team was awarded Walmart’s Distributor of the Year. Lizzie received RNDC’s Leadership Award in 2022, and is also part of RNDC’s Women’s Leadership Forum. Prior to RNDC, Lizzie was Vice President of Business Development at Suntory, where she worked on Japanese and Non-Alcoholic beverage business development and M&A strategy. Lizzie started her career in retail at Walmart where she held several roles in merchandising, finance, and corporate strategy. “I believe that NWA has the amazing opportunity to ensure that every child in our community has the services, support, and resources they need in order to thrive,” Lizzie mentions. “As a mother of three young kids, this cause and community need is close to my heart, and in this role on the board, I hope to expand our reach and support the Shelter in serving these children in need.” In addition to her involvement with the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter, Lizzie is active in the community with her three young children, and husband Andrew through youth sports and their public schools. She is also a competitive swimmer and triathlete. “We are pleased to announce the addition of Lizzie to our board,” said Rebekah Mitchell, CFRE, NWACS CEO. “As a volunteer, she has already provided exceptional fundraising support for NWACS and an unwavering commitment to supporting children from trauma. Her broad knowledge and insights will add considerable value to our board of directors.” Welcome to the team, Lizzie!

Wow! A big shout-out to Greg Bohannan for his outstanding leadership at the Pringles Youth Fishing Academy last weekend. Over 100 budding fishing aficionados participated! Greg wasn't just an organizer; his tireless efforts, along with his team, succeeded in raising $8,000 to support the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter and the Children & Family Advocacy Center. A hearty thank you to all the sponsors who injected life into this event, playing a pivotal part in molding 100 future fishing pros. Bazooka Bistro is back! This time, the Bazooka Candy Brands team worked with our kids to make their own personal pizzas. Projects like this, that teach our teens the basics of cooking, are incredibly valuable. Thank you to Bazooka Candy for investing so much time and care to teach our kids such important life skills. We can’t wait for the next Bazooka Bistro!

Former Arkansas Razorback and current Orlando Magic guard, Anthony Black, was in town last week to support our annual Kickball for the Kids tournament. During his brief visit, he made it a priority to spend time with our kids and teens at the Shelter. He talked with them about his own successes and challenges in school, his path to college and what it's like to play in the NBA. Anthony concluded the day with some hoops with the kids in our gym - leaving them with a day they will always remember.
