Help us celebrate 10 great years with Richard Williams!
10 years ago today, I was introduced as the new GM at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery in Memphis, TN. Over the 4 years that I was blessed to work with that team, I saw what true service and selflessness was all about. That team, and this company, changed me for the better. Leaving them was the hardest thing I have ever done professionally. However, I left for the privilege of leading the Bay Area initially and later our California and Arizona operations with my incredible sales partner Greg Lim, the most inspiring person I have ever known. I was fortunate enough to inherit some great leaders in Richard McCown, Cathy Fiorelli and Terry DeWeese. Along the way we added Cary Boisvert, Jody H. and Corretta Farmer to our team and we went to work building a team I loved working alongside every day, even in the tough COVID climate. Once again, my team made me better and they made leaving the hardest decision of my life, eased only by the capable hands I was leaving them in with Richard McCown taking the reigns. These last two years have stretched me in new ways as we work to build a strong team here in the Red River. Tara Jones Bessling, Hannah R. Moore, Eddie Martinez, Walter Still and Trevor T. are working hard to build a strong future for this region in partnership with John Childers, Charles Browne, Jacqueline Arellano, Rob Barrows, and Natalie Crow. Together with several other strong leaders we are fortunate to have around the region, we are moving the needle in a positive direction. Then there are my HR partners Debra Moore and Courtney Murphy - I would have been lost without their support and advice along the way. There are more people to thank than I possibly can. So many people in this company have left a mark on me and continue to make me better. My role model LaTonya Blalark for example, can't forget her! But none of this would have happened if not for my initial interview with John Renfro. He is the reason I took a job I promised my wife I wouldn't take (we were still unpacking from our last move). He has trusted me with 3 incredible opportunities and in so many difficult situations along the way. That means the world to me! I am so grateful I found this company 10 years ago. It has changed my life. If you're reading this and are not one of us, it can change yours, too. Come join us. I would love to celebrate your 10th anniversary one day!
