  • We were proud to host the 2024 Tawas Veterans Luncheon on Friday, Nov 8th! We kicked off the event with coffee and a gift to all attendees. Northland's Executive Vice President, Jack Eling, welcomed everyone and introduced Ron Whitney, Iosco County Veterans Advocate. The Iosco County Color Guard displayed the flags and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. Our guest speakers shared inspiring stories of their time serving our country. We are grateful for Trucking Delicious for the delicious meal and to the American Legion Audie Johnson 211 for providing a warm and welcoming space. Thank you to all veterans and their loved ones who joined us to celebrate Veterans Day. #VeteransDay #ThankAVet #VeteransAppreciation

  • On International Credit Union Day, Northland Area Federal Credit Union is proud to support the important work of Goodwill Northern Michigan - Patriot Place. As the Elan Charitable Giving recipient, they will receive a $15,000 donation to help provide housing and support services for homeless veterans. Patriot Place is Northern Michigan’s only Veterans transitional housing community for Veterans experiencing homelessness. At Patriot Place, veterans receive support and stability before moving to permanent housing. We're grateful to Elan Credit Card and the Elan Charitable Giving Foundation for their partnership in making this possible. #ElanCharitableGiving #internationalcreditunionday

  • Northland Area Federal Credit Union is proud to support The Desert Angel. The Desert Angel is a Michigan based volunteer organization funded totally by donations. In October of 2001, the Desert Angel was founded to show support to actively deployed military men and women. They pack and send “Miracle Boxes” filled with a variety of items including clothing, letters from home, snacks, and personal care supplies. These “Miracle Boxes” are named after PFC Joseph A. Miracle, a Michigan Soldier who bravely gave his life defending his unit. On October 14th, in honor of CU Kind Day, Northland team members and volunteers gathered together to package “Miracle Boxes” for The Desert Angel Organization. #cukindday #showyourculove Northland is proud to support our military. Network Administrator at Members First Credit Union

Another incredible Fuel District 3 meeting in the books! Thank you to all of our incredible speakers for taking the time to meet with us and share your knowledge and experiences! A special thank you to Northland Area Federal Credit Union for hosting us, and providing breakfast and refreshments for our group. Your team really went above and beyond to make us YP's feel welcome! We started the day with in interview with Jack Eling talking about his advocacy journey and how Northland Area FCU engages with their communities. Next we had a virtual meeting with Andrea Tucker talking about the MCUF and Fuel, and how to get more out of engaging with the group (Getting better "Fuel" mileage). In the afternoon we kicked things off with a presentation from Michelle Woodruff (Director of Advocacy at Alpena Alcona Area CU) going over the importance of advocacy for yourself and your members, as well as the CU Movement. After that, we had a fellow Fuel member Megan Tomczak present on building your own brand and getting the most out of your LinkedIn presence. We ended the day with a brainstorming activity where each attendee brought an issue that they experience in their daily roles. We then broke up into groups to brainstorm ideas to each other's issues and get different perspectives from how other CU's do things. That way each person would have something tangible to take back to hopefully make their daily lives even a little bit better! Last, but certainly not least, thank you to my fellow district leaders Jacob Purman Robert McLeod and Raelyn Szatkowski for helping to make this such a successful meeting! You three are Rockstars, and I can't wait to get started on our Q3 meeting with you all!
