Empowering the next generation of female tradespeople! Our Tools for the Trades 2025 Track Day at Sons of Speed brought together dozens of female shop class students from Volusia County Schools. During this special event, students gained firsthand insight into how their passion for hands-on work could transform into rewarding careers in the trades. ? Students met with successful and inspiring female industry leaders including Dystany Spurlock, Jody Perewitz, Shelly Rossmeyer Pepe, and Marilyn Stemp to learn about their career paths, and even worked on a vintage 1930s motorcycle trackside with Sons of Speed founder Billy Lane. ? This hands-on experience is just one of many ways our Tools for the Trades? program supports the next generation of trade professionals. As we wrap up National Career Development Month, we’re spotlighting Myra Galland, a shining example of how ambition and hard work can pave the way to success. Myra joined Northern nine years ago as a Full-Time Cashier, worked her way up to Store Manager, and more recently transitioned to leading a team in our Contact Center. Throughout her tenure, she has made several significant contributions, embracing every opportunity that came her way. She helped open 14 new stores, oversaw our Texas High School Welding Series that encouraged young adults to learn the trades, and led her store to be ranked Number 1 among new stores. Myra’s quest for learning and development helped her chart a career driven by passion, growth, and leadership. Her journey serves as a testament to how determination and continuous improvement can lead to remarkable achievements! As we reflect on the aftermath of two devastating storms, it is always humbling to witness the selflessness and compassion demonstrated by the communities impacted by natural disasters. We are immensely grateful to the Northern Tool team for rallying to take care of each other and ensure that our communities and first responders have the critical tools and equipment needed to provide relief and support during such a difficult time.?From overnight preparation of storm trucks to deliver the essential supplies to impacted areas, to temporary relocations to ensure the teams of impacted stores have the flexibility to take care of their personal needs, and everything in between; we are so proud of #TeamNorthern and how our core values show up in every interaction. ? Our mission is to serve those who do the tough jobs, and we recognize that facing this level of devastation both at home and in the community is one of the toughest jobs out there. The customers we serve are the ones who show up first amid such devastation when the rebuilding needs to begin.
