With an almost 200-year heritage behind it, Northern Rivers Family of Services is a leader in the field of human service agencies in New York by providing innovative, comprehensive and life changing care for over 18,000 children, adults and their families throughout 42 counties in New York. Then we intervene with our network of foster care homes, residential havens and crisis stabilization services. Northern Rivers and its member agencies Northeast Parent & Child Society, Parsons Child & Family Center and Unlimited Potential, provide help and hope to children who struggle with past abuse, mental health challenges and educational difficulties to nurture and empower them and their families to brighter futures and stronger communities. We also assist adults with impairments who need career training, employment and service navigation through our advocacy programs. This is a challenging topic, but childhood sexual abuse happens, and occurs more than you think. There are ways to help. First – always believe someone if they tell you they have been sexually abused. Then, find a safe and trusted person that can help you talk to a social worker or DSS worker. You can also call your local state central registry or the national child abuse hotline at 1-800-422-4453. Stats are from www.d2l.org, a great resource for more info on child sexual abuse and assault.

Our kids love basketball, so we were happy to show off our campus and of course check in on our basketball courts with Craig and Brian Forth from Forth Sport Floors this week! We have been working with the Forths for decades to maintain our courts in both Albany and Schenectady. Thank you both for stopping by!
