Today we celebrate Denmark's Liberation Day - commemorating the end of nazi occupation during #WorldWarII. We are grateful for the #freedom and #democracy we enjoy in this country. However, we must never forget that freedom is not something to be taken for granted. Around the world, there are many people fighting for their liberty. In #Ukraine, the people have been bravely resisting the Russian aggression for over two years. The war in Ukraine has had a devastating impact on the country's population. Thousands of soldiers and volunteers have been killed or wounded. At Northern Lights we are committed to supporting Ukrainian veterans who have been injured in the war. Together with our partner organizations we provide them with rehabilitation, treatment and mental health care so they can rebuild their lives. On this day, we urge you to join us in supporting the people of Ukraine. Together we can help them defend their freedom and build a brighter future. We're thrilled to share an update on Oleg, a 47-year-old Ukrainian hero we supported earlier this year. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and private donors, we were able to fund three months of specialized rehabilitation for Oleg, who was injured defending his country in March 2022. Our partner organization in Kyiv П?сля Служби (“After Service”) Veteran NGO has provided fantastic news about Oleg's incredible progress! He can now stand upright for1.5 hours without needing to rest. Oleg's hand strength has significantly improved, overcoming the muscle atrophy he previously experienced in his arms. There's even some motor function returning to his fingers! With the dedicated assistance of rehabilitation specialists, Oleg is learning to transfer himself independently into a wheelchair and practicing walking movements, aiming to regain his mobility. We're overwhelmed with joy by Oleg's determination and the incredible progress he's making. This would not be possible without your ongoing support. Together, we're helping Ukrainian heroes like Oleg rebuild their lives. #Ukraine #HopeForHeroes #Rehabilitation #NorthernLightsNGO #BeTheLight #StandWithUkraine #SupportVeterans

We want to share an incredible story that touched everyone in our Pislya Sluzhby?(After Service) Veterans Foundation. Before Christmas, our partners and friends from the organization for Danish wounded veterans, Veteranskytterne - Danish Wounded Warriors led by Jacob Panton, held a charity event in Denmark to raise funds for severely wounded warriors. Thanks to this event, funds were raised for 6 Ukrainian veterans in need of long-term rehabilitation. Sergiy and Andriy were two of these veterans. Each of them was provided with 3 months of rehabilitation at the “Realive” Rehabilitation Center. Recently their first 2 months of rehabilitation were completed with one more month ahead. However, Sergiy asked to transfer the funds for this month to Andriy's rehabilitation "because he needs it more and it's harder for him." Sergiy, we thank you for your humanity and selfless kindness! Your act is an impressive example of solidarity and compassion. We wish you and Andriy the speediest recovery! Sincere thanks to Veteranskytterne - Danish Wounded Warriors for supporting Ukraine, for spreading awareness about the war, and for caring for our wounded veterans! Your help is incredibly important to us! Northern Lights NGO/Nordlys Almennyttig Forening #rehabilitation #veteran

We need your help! Our friends at?П?сля Служби (“After Service”) Veteran NGO?in Kyiv shared the story of Roman Kramarenko, a courageous Ukrainian soldier who sustained serious injuries while serving his country. Roman urgently needs intensive medical treatment. Roman Kramarenko is the father of two young children. He bravely volunteered to defend his country on?#dayONE?of the Russian invasion. Despite lacking prior military experience, his leadership qualities led him to become a platoon commander within the Ukrainian National Guard. In February 2022, Roman suffered a critical head injury from a fragment. Doctors initially gave him little hope of survival. But Roman's unwavering fighting spirit, combined with exceptional medical care, pulled him through. Roman now faces a new critical challenge – regaining his independence. Due to his severe injuries he requires specialized rehabilitation at the"Modrytchi" center for severe head traumas. The cost of three crucial months of intense recovery treatment is 61.000 DKK. A donation of any amount will bring Roman closer to recovery. Please meet Sergiy Gelushchenko's, who currently receives recovery support from Northern Lights. Sergiy Gelushchenko is 36 years old and currently navigates life as a wheelchair user due to a spinal wound sustained during the conflict in Bakhmut on January 15th, 2022. While his speech and body is affected, his spirit remains undeterred ?? . Sergiy has undergone a long list of surgeries and treatments at various medical facilities accross Ukraine. Unfortunately, despite these extensive efforts, his condition showed limited improvement. However, Sergiy's story has recently taken a positive turn with his current, more intensive rehabilitation program. He is now demonstrating "great results," indicating significant progress in his recovery. This is an inspiring testament to his unwavering determination and the effectiveness of the current rehabilitation approach financed by Northern Lights generous benefactors. Although Sergiy’s current rehabilitation program is showing positive results and offers hope for a brighter future, ongoing support is crucial for his continued progress. It is important to acknowledge the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the impact it has had on countless individuals like Sergiy Gelushchenko. Earlier this year we donated money to the Ukrainian Veteran Organisation #AfterService / П?сля Служби (“After Service”) Veteran NGO. This initial donation was enough to pay for the necessary rehabilitation service for six wounded Ukrainian veterans. ? The rehabilitation process will help the Ukrainian #heroes on their journey back to a good life, after active duty in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Oleh Artyukh is among the six wounded Ukrainian Veterans we supported this month - read his story below: ? ------- Oleh Artyukh, a 46-year-old Ukrainian volunteer #soldier. He was injured on June 17th, 2023, after serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces for 1 year and 9 months. After getting wounded, Oleh has undergone extensive rehabilitation in various hospitals and is currently at the Adonis Rehabilitation Center in Bucha. His present condition is stable, and he has overcome the most life-threatening risks. Oleh dreams about being able to walk again. He is working very hard each day to regain strength in order to return to his wife and son and to be able to live a full life again. Oleh represents the #courage and #resilience of Ukrainian veterans. However, his story also highlights the long-term impact of injuries sustained during the #war. Consider donating to Northern Lights and help us support more wounded veterans in their need for medical care or rehabilitation services. More information about how you can support our organisation will follow shortly. In the meantime feel free to reach out to us via DM here on LinkedIn or send us an email: [email protected] #StandwithUkraine #freedom #WoundedWarrior #Hero
