Caring for patients all around the world! If left untreated long enough, diabetes will ultimately lead to a loss of a patient’s toes or feet due to diabetic foot ulcers and other complications. The best way to prevent that, says James Fullwood, DPM, a podiatrist and surgeon with Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital, is through access and education. In November 2024, Dr. Fullwood spent a week in Nigeria getting out into the community, performing foot screenings and glucose checks, and offering free medication to those who need it for World Diabetes Day. Though he’s on the ground in Nigeria two or three times a year, there’s a bigger end-goal in mind than the boots-on-the-ground strategy. We are pleased to announce the addition of Timothy Doak, PE, PLS, MBA to the ClimateWork Maine Board of Directors! Tim serves as Vice President of Facilities, Sustainability, and Supply Chain and the Chief Environmental Sustainability Officer for Northern Light Health, Maine’s second largest health system. In this role, Tim provides executive leadership to a diverse group of departments and developed and leads the environmental sustainability program for the organization. He has served in a variety of roles within Northern Light Health over the past decade, most recently as vice president of Capital Planning and Facility Optimization. Prior to his tenure with Northern Light Health, Tim was senior partner and president of a consulting engineering and surveying company in northern Maine for 17 years.
