The Project-Based Exploration for the Advancement of Knowledge (PEAK) Awards program supports students on their journey of research excellence, providing structured opportunities for undergraduate research and creative endeavors throughout their Northeastern University experience. In case you missed it: The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Distinguished Service Award, established in 1985 by the Board of Directors, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to AACP and academic pharmacy. We extend our sincere congratulations once again to Dr. David Zgarrick, Professor Emeritus at Northeastern University SOPPS for receiving this prestigious recognition. This award honors his more than 30 years of outstanding contributions to the pharmacy profession, the Academy, and AACP, including 12 years of dedicated service on the Board of Directors. Dr. Zgarrick served in various leadership roles during his 15-year tenure at Northeastern, including Department Chair, Acting Dean of the School of Pharmacy, and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs at Northeastern University, Bouvé College of Health Sciences. He retired in 2022, but it’s clear that retirement has not slowed his commitment to advancing the field of pharmacy. Craig Ferris, psychology professor, and colleagues have found that rats dosed with psilocybin after mild head injuries, were able to regain normal brain function. ?? ?? Psilocybin, the key ingredient in magic mushrooms, has anti-inflammatory properties and helps promote neuroplasticity and cell growth. These things may key in helping treat mild brain injuries.
