The Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) is a dynamic network of local governance, serving seven counties - Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Putnam, Nassau and St. Johns – and their 26 municipalities. Mission & Agency Structure The mission of the NEFRC is to celebrate the unique assets of Northeast Florida and to engage its people, businesses, governments and organizations. In doing so we: - Communicate Issues - Convene Stakeholders - Collaborate with Others - Calculate and Analyze - Construct Solutions Regional Planning Councils are authorized by Florida Statutes. There are 10 Regional Planning Councils in the State of Florida. The Northeast Florida Regional Council, which covers Regional District 4, was formed in 1977 by an inter local agreement, pursuant to Chapter 163, Florida Statutes, to "...establish an organization that will promote area-wide coordination and related cooperative activities of federal, state, and local governments ensuring a broad based regional organization that can provide a truly regional perspective and enhance the ability and opportunity of local governments to resolve issues and problems transcending their individual boundaries."

  • On October 29, 2024, ADAPT, part of Jacksonville Today, partnered with the City of Jacksonville’s Environmental Protection Board to host *Regional Resilience in Action*, a panel discussion on preparing Northeast Florida for climate change impacts. Moderated by Jessica Palombo, Editor of *Jacksonville Today*, the event featured local leaders, including Beth Payne of the Northeast Florida Regional Council, Jessica Beach of St. Augustine, and Anne Coglianese and Ashantae Green of Jacksonville, who shared updates on resilience efforts addressing flooding, heat, and storms. The panel highlighted regional collaboration, sustainability in governance, and citizen empowerment, emphasizing the critical role of partnerships in creating a resilient and sustainable future for the region.     Recognition Post: The Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) announced the winners of the 2024 Northeast Florida Regional Leadership Awards. We are proud to report that amongst the distinguished winners list is our esteemed colleague, Mr. Henry Dean. The 21st Annual Regional Awards for Excellence and Elected Officials Luncheon will be held to celebrate the winners and to honor local elected officials on January 9, 2025.     City of Palm Coast and #FlaglerCounty received awards for excellence in public service at the 21st Annual Northeast Florida Regional Council Awards Luncheon.   • FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Northeast Florida Regional Council Secures Over $1 Million in Federal Funding for Military Resilience Initiative Jacksonville, FL – The Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $1,009,099 in federal funds from the Department of Defense's Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation. This funding will support the development of a Military Installation Resilience Review and Implementation Action Plan (MIRR) aimed at enhancing military readiness and response to natural and human-made hazards while directly addressing future conditions that require longer-term planning, mitigation, and investment. The City of Jacksonville, with the support of the Northeast Florida Regional Council (NEFRC), has been awarded a $1 million Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This grant will help develop a comprehensive Climate Action and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reduction Plan for Northeast Florida, which includes Jacksonville, Duval, Clay, St. Johns, and Nassau counties, and the City of Palm Coast. For those who have already completed the survey, thank you! Your insights and contributions are invaluable to the success of this project, and we appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to share your ideas. Your feedback will help shape our region's climate goals and strategies. If you’ve started but haven’t had the chance to finish, we kindly ask that you take a few moments to complete it.
