An impactful way to show employees how much they are valued is by providing them the knowledge and resources they need to work in a safe environment. Employee health and safety is a top priority on dairy farms across the state, and is a value that has become part of the team's culture on many operations. NEDPA staff recently attended the NNY Manure Roadshow, which featured expertise from our industry partners at PRO-DAIRY at Cornell, New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health (NYCAMH), and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts. The rooms were filled with crop managers and environmental planners from across the state who were investing their time to get the latest nutrient management strategies and the importance of safety in their work. As warmer weather approaches, many farms will be having on-farm meetings to prepare their team for a busy season of long days in the field. From the free-stall, to the shop, to the field, thank you to hard-working farm employees! #EmployeeAppreciationDay #FarmSafety

NEDPA appreciates?Gov. Kathy Hochul?recognizing the devastating challenges these tariffs will have on New York's dairy industry. The?Northeast Dairy Producers Association?fully supports a swift resolution to the important issues raised by our federal government; however, we urge the administration to find common ground with all countries involved that does not result in unintended consequences for our family dairy farms. Today marks the beginning of National Agriculture Month! We may be biased, but New York State farmers are some of the best in the country! Dairy is the largest agricultural commodity in New York, with a significant impact on our state's economy. According to the November 2024 NYS Comptroller Report, "Dairy is far and away New York’s top agricultural commodity with sales of cow milk comprising nearly half (48.2 percent) of State agricultural product sales in 2022, and more than four times the sales of the State’s second highest product, grains, dry beans, oil seeds and dry peas." The Northeast Dairy Producers Association's Board of Directors met today to discuss state budget priorities, the legislative session, and challenges and opportunities faced by New York's family dairy farms. NEDPA is the voice, resource, and network for progressive dairy farms, working to advance solutions that support the continued viability of the state's entire dairy industry.
