This month, NYC marks 5 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in our city, there have been more than 240,000 hospitalizations, and nearly 47,000 deaths. These numbers are more than statistics — they represent our loved ones, our neighbors. Over the past five years, we’ve all been affected by COVID-19, but the pandemic has not impacted all of us equally. Rates of hospitalization and death from COVID-19 have been highest among Black and Latino New Yorkers. Nearly 16,000 New Yorkers were hospitalized from COVID-19 in 2024. We can protect our loved ones by getting the updated COVID-19 vaccines and wearing a high-quality mask in crowded indoor public settings: https://lnkd.in/dTkVuYY
