The public is invited to send handmade ornaments in for the North Dakota State Christmas Tree. The tree will be on display in Memorial Hall at the North Dakota State Capitol starting with a tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 5. This year's theme, "Branches of Hope," is inspired by First Lady Kathryn Burgum's initiative to end the stigma surrounding the disease of addiction. Ornaments may reflect personal recovery journeys, support systems or community resources, showcasing how hope branches out in many meaningful ways. In response to the devastating wildfires that have impacted many of our state’s communities, the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services, in partnership with numerous agencies and organizations, has launched a comprehensive online resource hub to assist residents in their recovery efforts. The newly developed page provides a centralized list of financial assistance programs and supportive resources aimed at helping North Dakota’s agricultural producers and residents affected by the wildfires. North Dakota Adjutant General, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Alan Dohrmann relinquished command to U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Mitchell Johnson at a Change of Command Ceremony on Sept. 15. The North Dakota Adjutant General commands the North Dakota National Guard and serves as the Director of Emergency Services, which consists of two divisions: the Division of Homeland Security and the Division of State Radio Communications.
