  • Have you ever tried grounding techniques to reduce stress? Grounding is a mental exercise used to bring your focus back to the present moment by actively engaging your senses to help manage anxiety, stress or overwhelming emotions. Watch this video to learn more.

  • Arctic Recovery is focused on providing an intensive, holistic treatment program to individuals 18 and older who are in need of detoxification and/or rehabilitation for substance abuse. The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is one of the leading publishers of addiction resources, and North Star Behavioral Health is excited to be incorporating these treatment materials into the newly revised Arctic Recovery programming. The updated program integrates industry-leading videos, fact sheets and worksheets from Hazelden. We utilize group therapy to reinforce the educational content from Hazelden. Some topics included in the treatment materials are drugs of abuse, their effects on the brain and body, addiction basics, making decision skills and setting and attaining goals. • Recently, Rachel Cooper, our Executive Director of Clinical Services, and Jaime Eggert, CEO, attended the Alaska Association of Homes for Children (AAHC) fly-in event in Juneau, Alaska. While there, they were able to hear about the great work happening across the state, network with other amazing community leaders, collaborate on initiatives and advocate with members of the legislature on topics that enhance our ability to serve the needs of the children in our community. Pictured from left to right are Rachel and Jaime, along with Jillian Ellis and Brandy Stratman, members of AAHC.

  • We're throwing it back to Feb. 7, when our fantastic employees dedicated the first Friday of every February as "Mr Paul's Hawaiian Shirt Day" in honor of our amazing receptionist, Paul! For years, he's brightened up the lobby on Fridays by wearing a Hawaiian-themed shirt. We had a great time joining him in the tradition!
