North Sound ACH is an independent nonprofit organization committed to building vibrant and healthy communities.

关于我们

North Sound Accountable Community of Health (North Sound ACH) exists to create a just and inclusive culture and the necessary conditions for all community members to thrive. North Sound ACH was founded in 2015 to be a place where collaborative learning, planning, and decision-making could occur, crossing traditional jurisdictional boundaries, and looking upstream to tackle issues that impact health, believing that people in the region are more connected than they are separate.

  • Calling all partners! Join the effort to collect community experience and perspective through the North Sound Well-Being Survey. This initiative is designed to collect health and well-being information from residents in Snohomish, Skagit, Island, San Juan, and Whatcom Counties, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the factors keeping individuals from reaching healthy and thriving lives. Data from this survey, which will be collected anonymously, will help us identify the challenges our communities are currently facing so we can better catalyze change through equitable measurement, centered in community voice and experiences. • North Sound ACH announces it has begun the search for a new CEO. The next CEO of North Sound ACH will be a strategic, compassionate, and courageous leader who will co-create the organizational vision and facilitate the re-imaging of current health and social care systems for the North Sound region. The CEO will be unapologetically committed to investing in policies and programs that address and dismantle the historic barriers to equitable well-being for all. The Seventh Generation Principle is shared by many Native American nations and tribes, which emphasizes the importance of thinking ahead and making decisions that will benefit future generations. North Sound ACH has benefited greatly from learning from the eight tribes in the North Sound, upon whose land we sit and work. With that in mind, CEO Liz Baxter has let us know that it’s time to begin the search for the next CEO for North Sound ACH. “It is such an honor to shepherd the work of North Sound ACH and its partners, leveraging resources to strengthen the work across the region. Over the next six months, I’m looking forward to helping the board identify an incredible leader ready to carry this work and grow opportunities to make this a region where all feel they belong,” Liz shared. WCA is excited to announce Free Borsey and Raven Borsey, of the Lummi Nation as the winners of its 18th annual $100,000 Bullitt Prize! The twin brothers, 27, dedicate themselves to nurturing and passing on traditional ecological knowledge, to resisting projects that damage the natural environment, and to telling those stories to a wider world. They plan to use funds from the prize to revive the Lummi Youth Canoe Family, reinvigorating an institution that centers Tribal tradition, supports youth at risk, and serves as a year-round conservation non-profit. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/giS_mCxG The 2024 Bullitt Prize Selection Committee was impressed with Free and Raven because their work is focused on a generationally and historically impacted community. Last week we celebrated the opening of the Island County Opportunity Council Veteran's Center! This vital hub provides crucial support to veterans facing homelessness, job challenges, and more. Through our Veterans Services programs, we assist with housing costs and connect Veterans to essential resources, including employment support and VA benefits. Thank you Christopher, Ross, Chris+the Brothers in Arms Motorcycle Club, and Greg for speaking at the celebration and sharing the importance of this new welcoming space.

In the words of Octavia Butler: "There’s no single answer that will solve all of our future problems... Instead there are thousands of answers – at least. You can be one of them if you choose to be.” Together, we can choose to be the answer.
