North River Commission (NRC) is excited to announce that we've been once again awarded to be a Neighborhood Business Development Center (NBDC) by Mayor Brandon Johnson and the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection. NRC will be serving the 33rd ward including the Albany Park and Irving Park communities. Highlights of the NBDC Program: - Citywide Coverage: Grantees will serve all 50 wards of Chicago, ensuring entrepreneurs have equal access to business support services. - Tailored Business Assistance: Grantees will focus on addressing challenges faced by small businesses, such as access to capital. - Collaborative Support: Grantees have a strong neighborhood network and coordinate efforts with local aldermen, the City and other community partners. We're excited for this opportunity to serve and help strengthen our business community!

The North River Commission (NRC) has been awarded a $200,000 subgrant by The Morton Arboretum's Chicago Region Trees Initiative to improve our urban tree canopy! Through this funding, NRC will be able to plant more trees in Albany Park and be a part of the city-wide movement to teach residents about the importance of the trees. From helping to mitigate flooding to reducing urban heat islands, community forest projects like this make neighborhoods greener and have many important benefits. Funding support for this project was provided by the Inflation Reduction Act through the USDA Forest Service. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. #UrbanForestry #FundingUrbanForestry

Through grants and funding from the Special Service Area 60, we were able to enhance our neighborhood by working with local artists to create murals on walls throughout Albany Park and Irving Park. This Saturday, OCT 19 ~ join us for an ART WALK on Lawrence Ave to check out the beautiful murals, meet some of the artists, and also check out one of the latest developments in the area called The Workshop - a mixed use creative and event space.
