Registered Nurse Ellie Tolberd, 30, cherished the two years she worked on 5th Floor caring for patients with cancer. In May, Ellie, who now works in the CICU, went from being a compassionate caregiver to a cancer patient herself after discovering a lump in her breast. In just three weeks, doctors diagnosed her with invasive ductal carcinoma, an aggressive form of #breastcancer, and she began chemotherapy. Ellie encourages everyone to be vigilant. Employee of the Month Paula Rainwater views her job as more than registering patients for doctor’s appointments and lab draws. It’s also about forming friendships. “I care about people, and I enjoy talking with them,” Paula said. “I have a soft spot for our older patients.” Each day Paula and her coworkers register up to 300 patients. Coworker Selena Farrell nominated Paula for Employee of the Month and wrote, “There are not enough amazing words to describe Paula. She always does her best and goes above and beyond for her patients. She makes sure patients get the best experience.” Congratulations, Paula! ??
