The federal Transparency Act is now in effect, aiming to enhance financial transparency and accountability for businesses of all sizes. This legislation requires businesses to file beneficial ownership information with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) by December 31 of this year for most companies. If your business qualifies as a "reporting company" (which includes most corporations and LLCs), you’ll need to provide details such as ownership percentages, control persons, and identifying information. Failing to comply with the reporting requirements of the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) can lead to significant penalties. The consequences include both civil and criminal actions: ·??????Civil Penalties: Entities that fail to report beneficial ownership information may face fines of up to $500 for each day the violation continues ·??????Criminal Penalties: Willful violations, such as providing false information or failing to file entirely, can result in criminal charges. These penalties include fines of up to $10,000 and imprisonment for up to two years ·??????Reputational Damage: Beyond financial and legal penalties, noncompliance can harm a business's reputation, impacting its ability to secure financing or maintain business relationships If a mistake is made in reporting, businesses generally have a 90-day grace period to correct errors without penalty. Burton Kelso delivered an engaging presentation at today’s monthly luncheon titled “Don’t Turn a Blind Eye to AI.” He provided insights into the various forms of artificial intelligence, its applications, and potential pitfalls, and even demonstrated several apps in action. Here are some of his key tips for writing effective AI prompts: ·??????Speak to AI as if you’re talking to a human. ·??????Assign AI a specific role, such as “my HR manager,” “a city planner,” or “a video editor.” ·??????Provide detailed instructions. ·??????Request a word limit, such as 500 words or less. ·??????Trust AI, but always VERIFY its output. Special delivery from North Carolina! Fifty Northern Fraser Fir trees arrived in Northtown today and are being set up by NKC Municipal Services. These trees are among the more than 50 million Fraser firs grown on 25,000 acres in North Carolina, where they account for over 90% of the state’s Christmas tree production. In just a few days, NKC businesses and "elf" clubs from North Kansas City High School will begin decorating the trees with creative themes. These include traditional designs, business-inspired decorations, NKCHS club motifs, and this year’s special theme: Children’s Literature and Books.
