In February 2025, the City of Lewisville hosted the North Texas Branch of the American Public Works Association. The branch President (my daughter) Gabriela Proce, EIT, had the opportunity to introduce none other than our most Honorable Mayor of Lewisville,TJ, Thomas Gilmore, who provided a warm heartfelt welcome to over 100 public works officials from all over the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, including public works directors, city engineers, street superintendents, consultants, and other public works officials. Mayor Gilmore, spoke about a recent water main break and the professionalism in the response, public service and how we touch the lives of so many people, the unsung heroes of public works, and of course our great community and organization, the City of Lewisville and was applauded at the conclusion of his presentation. On behalf of the North Central Branch of TX-APWA, and as a Past President, I want to thank our Mayor for his contribution to the profession and taking time from his busy schedule to speak to our membership. It’s been an honor to have American Public Works Association President, Dominick Longobardi in the building this week at the Texas Chapter of APWA’s Public Workshop and Equipment Roadeo. It’s even better to have Italian representation in the organization I’ve spent most of my life involved in. It’s been great catching up since we last saw each other at PWX in Atlanta. We could exchange stories for days, I’m convinced—but that’s just the New York way—us NY italians could talk to a brick wall if you let us. The next time Jim Proce, ICMA-CM and I are in town, we’re going to a Mets game!!!
