The past two days have been filled with engaging conversation, immersive learning, and professional growth for the nonprofits participating in this year’s Communications Initiative with McCabe Message Partners in Greensboro, North Carolina. We appreciate all the funders, grantees, and McCabe staff for such an engaging training. Every year this workshop provides nonprofits tools and actionable communication plans to support their work. Loved kicking off the 2024 Nonprofit Internship Program (NPIP) this week in Winston-Salem! Through NPIP, 41 college students will intern with nonprofit organizations across NC this summer. They'll work on issues from public education to health to environmental sustainability, and they'll gain experience in advocacy, journalism, digital media, direct services and more. Summer internships offer a crucial pathway to future employment for the next generation of nonprofit leaders. But too often, these internships are unpaid, which prevents many students from pursuing them. NPIP expands paid opportunities for students to explore the nonprofit field, with the goal of diversifying the pool of young nonprofit professionals in North Carolina over time.
