North Carolina Amateur Sports (NCAS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization established in 1983 to host the first sanctioned State Games of North Carolina in 1986 and the U.S. Olympic Festival-’87. Today, it operates with the goal of promoting health and wellness for all ages and skill levels through organizing best-in-class sporting events that enrich the quality of life and enhance economic well-being of North Carolina communities. NCAS hosts the BODYARMOR State Games of North Carolina, Cycle North Carolina “Mountains to the Coast” Bicycle Tour, Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride and Cycle North Carolina Mountain Ride. Staffed by three permanent, full-time employees, NCAS has a 13-member Board of Directors. NCAS’ success is attributed to the hundreds of volunteers who support the State Games and Cycle North Carolina. NCAS receives financial support from corporate sponsors, individual donors and event revenues.

North Carolina boasts the largest number of craft breweries in the American South with over 400+?independent breweries and brewpubs and we are looking forward to promoting and featuring many of these breweries and brewpubs are our upcoming events.
Last weekend we hosted our first BODYARMOR State Games Gohon Kumite Esports Tournament that featured over 100 gamers squaring off in five of the most popular FGC games. Big thank you to Sara Robinson and Animazed for having us as part of their brand new IbashoCon event. We had a blast and can't wait to do it again next year!

Congrats to the Town of Angier, NC on being voted the Best Rest Stop on last year's Mountains to Coast Ride! Cyclists were greeted by a huge welcome sign in front of the Angier Depot and treated to a “fair-like atmosphere” featuring live bluegrass music, food trucks and more.

This hidden gem nestled in the Smoky Mountains will provide an ideal camping spot in the heart of downtown along Scott Creek with route options that will weave their way through the stunning Appalachian landscape. Still riding high after celebrating the 25th anniversary of our Mountains to Coast Ride a couple of weeks ago as we made our way from Lenoir to Ocean Isle Beach. Along the way, our participants and host towns helped us to raise over $15,000 for Spruce Pine, our original start town that was devastated by Hurricane Helene in late September. Thank you to all of our riders, partners and volunteers for a great week of camaraderie, riding and unique experiences including tethered hot air balloon rides and frog legs - yum!
Last weekend we ventured to Murphy, NC- the first ever start town of our Cycle NC Mountains to Coast Ride - only this time, it was for our 2024 Cycle NC Mountain Ride. It was a weekend full of great riding, breathtaking views and wonderful camaraderie with over 325 participants from 17 different states in attendance. Thank you to the Town of Murphy, Visit Cherokee County NC and the Southern Appalachian Bicycle Association for being top notch hosts!
