Congratulations to Orthopedic Spine Surgeon Addisu Mesfin, MD, on receiving the North American Spine Society's 2024 Henry Farfan Award. The award recognizes those who have made national and international-level contributions to spine science research. This award was given to Dr. Mesfin in recognition of his work in spinal oncology. Dr. Mesfin is vice chair of Research and chief of Spine Oncology at our MedStar Orthopaedic Institute at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr. Mesfin has more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, more than 300 presentations, and numerous other accolades, research grants, and awards in his areas of expertise. He will receive the award at the annual NASS meeting in Chicago later this month.

Golf legend Tiger Woods underwent his 6th back surgery in the last 10 years recently. It was performed by NASS member Sheeraz Qureshi, MD, of Hospital of Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, FL. The procedure was a microdecompression surgery of the lumbar spine for nerve impingement in the lower back. https://loom.ly/3Kmy8Pw
