From Ian Burkhart, NASCIC President: As Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month wraps up, I invite you to reflect on why disability and accessibility matter to all of us. SCI can affect anyone, at any time, through events like accidents or medical procedures. Caring about accessibility means recognizing that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and opportunity, regardless of physical ability. We can help create a world where accessibility is natural and no one is judged for moving through life differently. People with disabilities are part of the fabric of society—friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. When we embrace this, we build a world where everyone can thrive. www.nascic.org #SpinalCordInjuryAwarenessMonth

  • As #SpinalCordInjuryAwarenessMonth comes to a close, we’ve been encouraged by the amount of information that’s being shared and the many worthwhile initiatives happening right now across our community. It’s important that we keep the conversation going throughout the year, even after this month ends - and that we stay together in discussion to improve outcomes across all aspects of SCI advocacy and research. We encourage everyone to consider our SCI Research Advocacy Course - or one of the SCI-RAC Lite Bundles, to hone our advocacy efforts even more. Click here to learn more or email us at [email protected] with any questions about membership or the SCIRAC Course. https://lnkd.in/dSx3JAJc

  • What is the iBCI-CC? Collaborative communities are continuing forums where public and private sector members, which can include the FDA and other federal agencies, work together on medical devices to achieve common objectives and outcomes, to solve shared challenges and to leverage collective opportunities. To learn more about the iBCI-CC, we encourage you to watch our 13-minute orientation video here: https://lnkd.in/diX8nYY3 We are seeking to expand our membership to include more people with lived experience. This includes people living with spinal cord injury and their care partners. We need this voice to be thoughtful and mindful of our activities and the development of iBCIs Those interested in joining can fill out an application at https://lnkd.in/djagmjfX In the application under “How did you hear about us?" choose “Referral” then enter NASCIC in the text box below.
