Full operations resumed this week at Canada’s west coast and Montreal ports after the government ordered binding arbitration. In the U.S., negotiations have again broken down between East and Gulf port owners and the union over the use of automation. In October, both parties agreed to postpone the current strike and gave themselves until Jan. 15 to reach an agreement. No date has been set to resume talks. #NAFEMAdvocacy

More than 700 foremen at ports across British Columbia are locked out by the British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA). And an ongoing work stoppage at two Port of Montreal locations has delayed 40% of the port’s container traffic. The longshoremen’s contract expired Dec. 31, 2023. No negotiations are currently scheduled. #NAFEMAdvocacy
