As part of our commitment to supporting workforce development in the communities where we operate, I’m excited to share that Norfolk Southern is partnering with the City of Refuge, Inc. to build a welding training center at their facility on Atlanta's west side. This initiative will equip local residents with valuable skills and open doors to rewarding careers in industries that drive our economy forward. ? I’m especially proud that our McDonough Training Center—home to Georgia’s only American Welding Society (AWS)-accredited welding testing facility—will play a key role in this effort. During the center’s first year, we’ll assist with certifications and waive certification fees to ensure aspiring welders have the support they need to succeed. ? Mashed Potatoes: Enough potatoes to serve mashed potatoes to the entire U.S. population three times over. ?? Sweet Potato Casserole: Enough sweet potatoes to bake over 160,000 casseroles! ?? Cranberries: About 1.5 million pounds of frozen cranberries delivered every year. ?? Fresh Veggies: Nearly 63,000 tons of fresh vegetables moved last year. ?? Stuffing: Enough flour to bake over 7 million loaves of bread daily—plus celery, onions, and broth for your recipes. DESSERTS ?? Sugar: Over 1 million tons transported for all your baking needs. ?? For Johnny Robinson, a young rail fan and aspiring conductor, his fifth birthday was made extra special with a celebration aboard the NS Safety Train. Diagnosed with a rare condition as an infant, Johnny endured extensive medical care early in life. Now happy and healthy thanks to an experimental treatment program, he spends his days watching trains with his dad, Peter, and dreaming of becoming a railroader. When our team heard Johnny’s story, we knew we had to help make his special day unforgettable. From a tour of the NS Safety Train to sitting in the engineer’s seat—and even receiving his very own model NS train—Johnny got to live out his railroader dreams surrounded by his family and Team NS.
