Our railroaders make a difference that extends beyond the freight we move. At NS, we know the service we provide our customers affects their operations, employees, and communities across our network. For Locomotive Engineer Chris Shirley, that reality motivates him every day – and his dedication to providing outstanding service caught the attention of our customer in Villa Rica, Georgia. Thank you, Chris, for leading by example and always going above and beyond! #ThankARailroader Read more at https://lnkd.in/ej9e9qT4.

I've been fortunate to spend over 36 years working at Norfolk Southern, starting as a brakeman, then as a conductor, and later as a locomotive engineer. Over time, and primarily because I found leaders willing to risk a bet on me, I now find myself leading the commercial charge to connect our services with our customers’ needs. This week, I had the pleasure of joining Frances Munro, Alexander Luc, and Floyd Hudson for a panel discussion at our all-employee Town Hall. We talked about something I believe in at the bottom of my heart — the value of strong relationships and dependable service. What stood out to me in our conversation is that the heart of Norfolk Southern is our people. It’s easy to talk about rail as a business of logistics and operations, but at its core, it’s about trust. Trust is what keeps our customers coming back and what allows us to attract new business. I want everyone at Norfolk Southern to understand what we are striving to deliver every day for our customers.?It’s a simple formula and as relevant today as it was 36 years ago when I started: delivering service our customers can count on, from people they can trust. Whether it's in #coal, #intermodal, #automotive, #agriculture, #consumergoods, etc., our customers need to know that we can deliver for them, no matter what. I’m proud of what our team has accomplished and even more excited about where we’re heading. We’re still writing this success story, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve next. #CustomerSuccess #Trust #ServiceExcellence #NorfolkSouthern

We're making it easier than ever to keep your freight moving efficiently with the launch of our new Thoroughbred Resource Planning System (TRPS, pronounced “trips”) at intermodal terminals! Designed with our customers' needs in mind, TRPS will match intermodal train capacity with the flow of inbound containers. Containers will have a designated spot on the train, resulting in smoother operations and improved service. ?? ?? See how it works and learn more at https://lnkd.in/ep69iZzS.

Today, we announced that we’ve reached tentative, five-year collective bargaining agreements with all general committees of SMART Transportation Division, our largest labor union, which represents our train conductors. In the past three weeks, we’ve successfully negotiated tentative agreements with nine out of our 13 unions, covering nearly 65% of our unionized workforce. At #NorfolkSouthern, we’re committed to partnering with our labor leaders to ensure that our workforce is not only supported but also rewarded for their hard work and dedication. These tentative agreements deliver the pay, healthcare, and vacation improvements our teams deserve— without the multi-year wait that often-accompanied previous bargaining rounds. Thank you to SMART-TD for your partnership in reaching this critical agreement. We look forward to reaching additional agreements with all our unions. ?? Learn more at https://lnkd.in/dAeZ8aJE.

More than 140 years ago, people gathered on the streets of New York to take part in the first Labor Day Parade, celebrating the achievements of American workers. By 1894, it became a federal holiday, with Congress designating the first Monday in September to honor the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being. Long before our country's workers were officially celebrated, our railroaders were building this great nation. Then and now, we rely on them to safely move the goods and materials we depend on every day. To #TeamNS, thank you for the work you do every day, 24/7, 365, to keep our country rolling! ???? #LaborDay

As Labor Day approaches, I want to thank my Norfolk Southern colleagues for their invaluable contributions to our railroad and the U.S. economy. Reflecting on this week, I’m reminded that when we’re all at the table, we can all succeed. Our entire leadership team is committed to ensuring every railroader has a seat at the table and a voice in the conversation about how to foster a positive work environment and operate a successful railroad that delivers rewarding, family-sustaining careers. This past week, we hosted our inaugural Labor Summit in Atlanta – a first not just for us but for our industry – where union leaders, representing our diverse, skilled workforce, engaged with our team in open discussions on safety, service, staffing, training, productivity, and growth. These candid conversations help us better meet the needs of our workforce and deliver for our customers. In the days surrounding the summit, we announced tentative agreements with nine of our 13 unions, covering approximately 55% of our unionized workforce—four months ahead of the next scheduled collective bargaining rounds. These agreements reflect our commitment to improving compensation, benefits, and quality of life, highlighting the power of collaboration to achieve better outcomes for everyone. By working closely with labor leadership, we’re empowering a workforce that drives results and employee well-being across the board. So, as we celebrate Labor Day, I want to again thank our railroaders for their dedication. Your voices matter and your efforts are essential to Norfolk Southern’s success. Together, we’re building a stronger future for our colleagues, our company, and the American economy.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve reached tentative, five-year collective bargaining agreements with five more of our labor unions, four months before the start of the next collective bargaining round. Over the past two weeks, #NorfolkSouthern has reached tentative agreements with nine of our 13 unions, covering approximately 55% of our unionized workforce. As our CEO Alan Shaw said, “These agreements would not be possible without the industry-leading partnership Norfolk Southern has built with our labor unions. As we recognize Labor Day this upcoming weekend, we express our appreciation for the contributions of our craft employees. We’re committed to supporting them with the pay, health care, and personal time they deserve, and look forward to reaching additional agreements with all of our unions in the near future.” Learn more at https://lnkd.in/ef7ZVAsA.
