It was great to be part of the Metro South Chamber of Commerce's 111th Annual Meeting and B2B Expo! The Norfolk County Sheriff's Office was well represented. Sashell and Shannon were out making the pitch for others to join our great team. The Metro South Chamber supports and promotes the local business community through public advocacy, education, networking, information, and community development. We are thankful for those in our community who continue to step up and help others when needed. Sheriff Patrick McDermott and Special Sheriff Christopher Bell joined veterans organizer Richard Salloway at a Thanksgiving luncheon for disabled veterans at the VA hospital in Brockton, which included some amazing pastries donated by Elissa Montilio of Montilio's Bakery, which is headquartered in Brockton. Thank you for taking the time to honor those who have served.

A great day for the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office. Our Director of Mental Health, Anne Beatty Collins was presented with an Employee of the Year award by the Massachusetts Sheriffs' Association at the 2024 Annual Law Enforcement and Corrections Awards Ceremony. Anne is a leading voice in the multi-disciplinary team at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office, ensuring that our security teams have the information necessary for specific patient needs, which provides a safe environment for patients and staff. “Anne Collins is a true superstar and a critical part of our agency’s success,” said Norfolk County Sheriff Patrick McDermott. “Anne goes above and beyond every day to ensure those needing mental health services receive exceptional care. Her exemplary work ethic is felt by not only those in our custody but each individual working at the sheriff’s office.” The MSA ceremony recognized the extraordinary contributions of individuals from all of the 14 sheriff's offices who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to the communities they serve across the Commonwealth. We offer our sincere congratulations to all of the award recipients. Well done!

The Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office is sending out a big thank you to everyone who donated to our winter coat drive over the last several weeks. We collected 133 new or gently used children’s and adult winter coats through a partnership with Coats for Kids and Families. Those coats will now be cleaned by Anton's Cleaners Inc and distributed throughout Norfolk County and beyond to those in need. Your simple act of kindness is sure to warm someone’s day and that’s pretty cool. Thank you as well to our compassionate class of recruits who took some time out of their correctional officer training to get this effort over the finish line!
