We know that all types of smoke are detrimental to health. We therefore regulate all types of smoke in our environment. The ONE type of smoke that serves absolutely NO purpose however, is smoke from tobacco products: ?? Cars help us get from A to B... ?? Factories produce things... ?? Tobacco products...??? In the ??????????, medical reports began linking smoking to lung cancer. In 1950, Wynder and Graham published a landmark study in JAMA Network Health Systems & Recruitment, linking smoking and lung cancer directly. Since then, we have witnessed a complex interplay between public health initiatives and the tobacco industry's influence and tactics. ???????? ?????? ???????? ???? ?????? ?? ???????? ?????? ?????????? ??????! ???? ???? ???? ?????? ?????????? ????? Technology is a tool, not a goal. The Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) MDPI just published a very interesting article on “AI in Healthcare”. The article covers a lot of topics, but here’s what I found the most interesting: ?? “?????????? ??????” ????????????????????: Many AI systems remain "black boxes", offering recommendations without transparency. Health first, patients first, ???????? ????????. What does “patient-centric” really mean? Your thoughts? Does it mean giving patients access to use and create data, embedding the patient’s lived experiences into their digital health journey? Does it mean intuitive interfaces, data interoperability, health records integration, multilingual, voice-assisted, real-time data and assistance?? THE LIST OF WANTED FEATURES IS LONG. THE CENTRAL QUESTIONS PERHAPS ARE? ??Did it improve patient outcomes? ??Did it reduce unnecessary hospital visits? ??Did patients feel more in control of their health? Being truly patient-centric when rolling out a digital health programme goes beyond just designing a user-friendly app. It is a whole new way of seeing and navigating the Health system. I am impressed by hardworking and visionary Slovenian Minister of Health Valentina Prevolnik Rupel who, among many other initiatives has championed the “Quality and Safety Act” for health. An inspiring approach that most, if not all, countries could and should learn from. She is also an expert in value based health and outcomes measures related to patients. These are important pillars for fair, equitable and sustainable health. We had a good discussion on Slovenia, pushing European health forward; and including Slovenia as a part of the Nordic Health 2030 Movement approach. Valentina is also the original initiator of the Horizon Europe IHI program IHI IMPROVE, for which I am in Slovenia these days. Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies

Protection with and from data - data saves lives and needs to be used! Do we DARE? Friday I had the honour to give a keynote at the event "Towards a cancer-free Europe: Strengthening cancer prevention strategies" in Warsaw, as a formal health event of the Polish EU presidency. An event calling "for joint action for primary cancer prevention, health education and building a healthier future in Poland and Europe" . There is still much to do, but also so many strengths that pooled together - can make a huge difference for patients and in preventing avoidable cancer. There were magnificent talks and a very dynamic and well moderated panel session. Thanks to the Polish organisers and the Danish Embassy in Poland for building the bridges of the countries and the presidencies.
