Last week, I became a dad to twin girls. It’s a surreal and incredible feeling—one that I’m still trying to fully wrap my head around. But this post isn’t about my recent fatherhood or my daughters; it’s an appreciation post. I want to take a moment to thank my law partner Brittany Berzin and all the co-workers and companies out there who make it possible for parents to take time off to bond with and care for their children. As an employment attorney, I’ve seen the impact when employers fail to comply with leave laws, and I also understand the challenges businesses and co-workers face when someone takes time away. That’s why I believe appreciation is owed to those who make it work—picking up the slack and showing genuine support for families during these critical moments. Although it’s only been a week, I already can’t imagine being forced to work during this time. I’m profoundly grateful for the opportunity to focus on my family, and it’s reminded me why I’m so passionate about advocating for employees’ rights.
