Nor- Cal FDC’s mission is to drive the local economy by supporting small business owners and entrepreneurs through access to capital. Their lending, banking, and technology partners provide greater access to a variety of sources of capital to small business owners in Northern California, Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. In 2014-15, Nor-Cal FDC was recognized by the U.S Treasury as a leader of providing capital access to businesses in Low-to-Moderate income communities. Nor-Cal FDC was also recognized by the State of California for its loan portfolio diversity that includes minorities and women. Per the State of California annual production reports, Nor-Cal FDC had accounted for over 40% for the entire state of guarantees to minority borrowers and over 30% to women owned businesses.

Today California State Treasurer Office Deputy Treasurer Khaim Morton speaking on behalf of California Treasurer Fiona Ma, testified in sponsor of SB 86 (McNerney), a crucial bill to extend the Sales and Use Tax Exclusion (STE) for the California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority. This exclusion boosts clean tech production, drives sustainable jobs, and strengthens California's economy. Without SB 86, the tax benefit will expire on January 1, 2026. As we close out the year and encourage our team to rest between Christmas and New Year’s Day, we are grateful to share that in one week this month alone, we disbursed nearly $15 million—about 3x our total “assets into community” (AIC) within our first 5 years of existence COMBINED. As of October 30, 2024 since inception, we have flowed over $150 million AIC across all our strategies. We wish you all safe and happy end-of-year holiday celebrations. See you in 2025!
