Since then, the Care Companion Program has grown to support family caregivers across Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, and Nepal, offering health education in multiple languages, nutrition guidance rooted in local traditions, and training for diverse healthcare settings. A decade later, that simple truth remains: Caregivers — and their love — are at the core of it all, of us all. This edition of the Philanthropy Flashcards reveals insights into India's vibrant non-profit sector as a powerhouse of innovation, driving systemic change in diverse global settings, presenting a huge opportunity for philanthropy to create impact at scale by supporting Made in India solutions. The insights presented are based on the analysis of 26 non-profit solutions that were initially tested in India and later expanded to other geographies. Currently, Indian non-profit solutions are present across 32 countries. We identify key parameters and trends linked to non-profit organizations' (NPOs) geographical expansion, including scaling trajectories, sectoral composition, areas of operation, and more. The report also includes three exemplary models of NPOs - Pratham International, Noora Health, and Creative Million - as caselets; tracing their journeys in fostering meaningful impact across varied settings. We recently had the honor of hosting the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, at the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in Bangalore, India. Dr. Murthy saw the Care Companion Program in action, speaking directly with patients, caregivers, nurses, doctors, and hospital leadership.
