  • Hey friends! Ever had a brilliant idea to uplift our community but felt daunted by the complexities of starting a nonprofit? NEW offers fiscal sponsorship programs to help bring visionary projects to life without the hassle of establishing a standalone nonprofit. Fiscal sponsorship allows changemakers to focus on their mission while leveraging the sponsor's nonprofit status and administrative support. This means you can accept donations, apply for funding, and serve the community without navigating the intricate IRS paperwork necessary for a 501(c)(3) organization. If you're passionate about making a difference and want to learn more about how fiscal sponsorship can accelerate your project's impact, reach out to us! • Hey folks! Join us for our workshop this month, "Approaching Conflict with Courage", on March 28th from 9 am - 1 pm at the New Center, with our Director of Learning Communities - Carly Friedrich! Each day in the social sector feels unpredictable as we experience rapid change, divisiveness, and a hypernormalization of fear. To continue our work towards our missions, we must build our individual and collective capacity to navigate conflict in our daily working relationships and organizations. We need to approach conflict with courage and have some difficult conversations. When we are under pressure, how can we work towards a shared purpose? How can we communicate clearly through tension and disagreement, set clear boundaries for ourselves and others, and keep our values at the core? • So proud to share this labor of love I created with my brilliant collaborator, Susan Loucks. Inside-Out: Dismantling Authoritarianism in Ourselves & Our Work is more than a learning series—it’s a call to reflect, reckon, and reimagine. We created this because we’ve seen how authoritarianism—fear, control, compliance, silence—shows up in even the most well-intentioned organizations. And we believe transformation starts from the inside out. If you're yearning for a different kind of leadership, one rooted in trust, power-sharing, care, and wholeness—we made this for you. Join us. Let’s build the future we deserve.

Authoritarianism isn’t just a political crisis—it’s a workplace issue, too. In ways both big and small, power imbalances, silenced dissent, and rigid hierarchies shape how we work and lead. We are excited to announce the launch of our series: ????????????-??????: ?????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???? ?????????????????? & ?????? ????????; a learning series with NEW's CEO, Yodit Mesfin Johnson & Susan Loucks, an organizational consultant. This is a ???????? six-part series designed for nonprofit leaders, changemakers, and teams who want to recognize and dismantle these harmful patterns. Through thought-provoking blogs and video insights, we’ll explore trust, power, fear, and narrative control—offering concrete strategies to build workplaces rooted in equity, transparency, and shared power. • Friends, join us in celebrating our two (2) year #workiversary with Dan, NEW’s Office & Building Manager! "Like many of the star team member here at NEW, Dan's commitment to our work and community make him an invaluable part of our team. Whether he's ensuring that our building remains a safe and enjoyable place to work, helping a tenant leader troubleshoot our AV technologies, or helping to plan an event within our walls, he always shows up in earnest. He's always thinking about the impact of our decisions on the people we center and serve, and remains dedicated to being of worthwhile service. We're a better organization because he's here, and are so lucky to be celebrating another anniversary with him." • A building is more than its brick and mortar, its square footage and occupancy count. It’s a place to find shelter and sanctuary in times when we feel alone and overwhelmed. It’s a place to find other people with similar experiences or interests, and build community. And it’s the memories made, collective growth, friendships forged, and potential that’s uncovered within its walls. As we transform the future, we’re transforming our physical space to embody our mission, vision, and values. The new NEW Center will inspire our community, and bring us together to realize the just and thriving society we all want to live in. Help support us transform the future today! https://lnkd.in/gjGxmWpt

  • Folks, Check out our latest blog post by Brian Frederick, "The Importance of IT Policies and Procedures". "With the growing threats that we face today, ensuring the security and efficiency of IT systems is crucial for any organization. These are an essential part of any organization. As an IT professional working with dozens of nonprofits each year, I’ve seen firsthand that what we don’t know is often what hurts us the most. Too often, nonprofits assume they aren’t targets—but the reality is, we are! Adopting best practices is just as crucial for nonprofits as it is for any other organization. If you lack essential security policies, it’s not a matter of if you’ll fall victim—it’s a matter of when. And when that happens, your digital environment could come to a standstill until the threat is neutralized." Read Brian's full reflection here: https://lnkd.in/eHZjZNpb
