Nonprofit and social change leaders, the stakes are high following the recent U.S. election, and our work has never been more urgent. Fear, anger, and uncertainty are real—but so is the power of deep connection and collective action. On November 20th, join us as we hold space to reflect on how we can show up for each other, take stock of our resources and relationships, and fortify ourselves for what lies ahead. This is a moment to listen, rally, and act—because even when systems falter, our communities’ strength endures. Let’s step into this together. “We are the ones we have been waiting for.” — June Jordan In the aftermath of the recent U.S. election, many of us --in the social sector especially-- are grappling with fear, anger, and uncertainty. Emotions that can spark action, but can just as easily leave us feeling stuck or overwhelmed. At Centering Justice, the podcast I host, we hold to one fundamental belief: we are who we need. Especially when it comes to caring for each other, our organizations and our communities. We also know that the pandemic and racial reckoning in recent years taught us alot that canz serve us now. On November 20, 2024, we’re creating a space to ground ourselves in this truth and explore what emerges when we are still and listening deeply. This episode is about facing hard truths together, but also about remembering the strength we find in each other. We will reflect on how communities have shown up in times of crisis—and how we can continue to do so now. Join us as we: ?? Take personal inventories of those we can count on. ?? Identify the offerings we can give and receive within our communities. ?? Name our needs and fortify ourselves for what lies ahead with collective care. This is not just a discussion. It’s a call to reconnect, to remember, and to act on what we know: that even when systems fail us, we will not fail each other. Be part of this communal dialogue. Together, we’ll transform fear into solidarity and silence into action. "Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of writing a blog post around this time of year, sharing reflections on my role and work fundraising for NEW. And each year, I’ve taken time to reflect, found a central theme, and waxed poetic about my latest musings. And of course, it always contains an aligned call to action to donate and support NEW as we lovingly push the social sector to transform." ?? Nonprofits Are Facing Financial Challenges—We're Here to Help Build Resilience! ?? According to Nonprofit Finance Fund, too many nonprofits are running on fumes. Their 2018 State of the Nonprofit Sector Survey reveals two-thirds of nonprofits struggle to offer competitive pay, half have less than three months of cash on hand, and 86% are bracing for increased demand. This funding gap isn’t new; it’s a crisis that’s plagued our sector for years. In 2020, at the height of the pandemic, we at NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work) took action. First, we secured funding to provide rent relief for tenants in need. But we knew a deeper solution was necessary, so we launched Road to Resilience—NEW’s financial leadership program, built to support nonprofit leaders and finance staff on the path to long-term resilience. Road to Resilience is more than a program; it’s a community-driven experience to build financial acumen and resilience, focusing on strong balance sheets, reserves, and participatory budgeting. Our next cohort kicks off in January 2025! ?? Applications close on December 2nd at 9:00 am. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/eMWMYu4W Program Highlights: ?? Strengthen your nonprofit finance fundamentals ?? Build strategies for clear, transparent financial communication ?? Connect with other leaders navigating the “accidental finance” space Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gJcZdjR4 Let’s build resilience together! ?? #NonprofitFinancials #Flourishing #RoadToResilience #NEW
