It's World COPD Day, an annual awareness event that occurs on the third Wednesday of each November. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a preventable and treatable disease caused by damage to the lungs and is currently one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Initiatives to reduce the burden of COPD and to promote lung health are taking place worldwide, and while there is no current cure for COPD, there are many actions that can prevent it and improve quality of life. Oxygenation monitoring is essential for critically ill patients and patients suffering from chronic diseases.
