On this day 39 years ago, our founder Phil Isaacson, and a team of three engineers set out to make noninvasive healthcare measuring devices more reliable and affordable. They founded Nonin Medical and began work to make the technology more compact, introducing the world's first portable handheld oximeter in 1990, followed by the world's first fingertip pulse oximeter in 1995. Since then, the company has introduced dozens of new products and developed several proprietary technologies that advance the quality and accessibility of noninvasive physiological monitoring.
