Lower CRS score thresholds will make it easier for skilled workers in priority occupations to qualify for invitations.? ? Potential removal of LMIA bonus points may eliminate the 50-point advantage for LMIA-backed job offers to reduce fraud and focus on skills.? ? New opportunities in emerging sectors such as clean technology, biotechnology and critical minerals will provide fresh immigration pathways.? As of January 31, 2025, Canada has updated its immigration regulations to strengthen the cancellation of temporary resident documents, enhancing border security and system integrity. Immigration officers now have explicit authority to cancel electronic travel authorizations (eTAs) and temporary resident visas (TRVs) if a person becomes inadmissible, provides false information, or is unlikely to leave Canada on time. Work and study permits may also be revoked if the individual becomes a permanent resident, is deceased, or received the document due to an administrative error. These changes aim to improve oversight and protect Canada’s immigration system. https://lnkd.in/gRp5AMiC

As of November 8, 2024, international students in Canada can work off-campus up to 24 hours per week during academic sessions. This is an increase from the previous limit of 20 hours per week. During scheduled breaks, such as summer or winter holidays, students may work full-time. To be eligible, students must hold a valid study permit, be enrolled full-time at a designated learning institution, and be pursuing a program that is at least six months long and leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate. Maintaining good academic standing is essential to retain work eligibility.
