The Belle Haven Community Campus has been awarded the 2025 Green Building Honorable Mention by Sustainable San Mateo County. As a consultant to the City, Noll & Tam provided interior space planning for the combined community recreation center and library, as well as furniture selection. This project reflects a commitment to sustainability, innovation, and community well-being, incorporating energy-efficient design, water conservation, and eco-friendly materials. Hart Howerton was the primary architect and landscape architect, and it was built by XL Construction. ??#UncommonSpacesfortheCommonGood #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #CommunityImpact #BelleHaven #NollandTam https://lnkd.in/gWkvJCqC

Jessica Jobe Sea, AIA Silvia Cernea Phan Dung Joshua Gregory Elaine Forbush Daniela Pardo Duran Oscar A. Saenz At Hayward Library, the oculus is a central organizing design feature that brings bright diffuse light through the heart of the library, illuminating the atrium and grand staircase. This oculus is the vision behind the dress, with the bright white surfaces, generous volume, and ribbon of translucent tulle around the hem. The asymmetric sweep of the skirt corresponds with the organic shapes of the oculus above and the staircase below, providing a sense of movement. Hayward library features a repeating motif of channel glass throughout the atrium as well as glass fins highlighting the entry. The texture of tulle at the skirt and the fins at the bodice echo that glass motif of the building. Terra cotta exterior cladding and the colorful cutaways at the interior inspired the lining of the bodice, contrasting against the stark white form of the dress. The Openest Chick Pouf compliments the design of the garment as well as the detailing of the Hayward Library with contrasting interior surfaces and its adaptable rounded shape. The transforming shape of the Chick Pouf compliments the changing impression of the dress depending on the viewer’s perspective. ???? Happy Lunar New Year! ???? ? As we celebrate this time of renewal, family, and tradition, we are reminded of how architecture shapes our sense of community. Public spaces like community centers, libraries, parks, and cultural centers become hubs where stories are shared and traditions thrive. Lunar New Year is a beautiful example of how culture brings people together, and as architects, we have the privilege—and responsibility—to design spaces that foster these connections. Let’s continue building inclusive environments where traditions are celebrated and new memories are made. ? Here’s to a year of prosperity, creativity, and community!? ? #LunarNewYear #CommunityDesign #ArchitectureForAll #BuildingTraditions
