Nodal supports families nationwide pursuing their dream of having children. We are concerned about the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision affecting access to infertility treatment. This decision is impacting families in the midst of fertility treatments, reducing care options. Physicians must have the chance to support patients in this delicate process. Kyte Baby: Let’s talk about it. TLDR: An employee of a baby brand was denied remote work and flexibility to be near her recently adopted baby, born at only 22 weeks, while he was in the NICU. The brand’s CEO made two statements, both claiming responsibility and apologizing for not supporting the mother. The use of the word “adopted” over and over again in the statements reminds us how our society likes to separate those who carried their child over those who did not. A friendly reminder: ??there are many ways to become a family??. Here’s how we see it: no matter how you get to parenthood, it’s not the journey but the destination. It goes without saying, parents should be able to be with their children in emergency situations without repercussions within their job. (And this is doubly true when you’re working for a company that creates baby products and touts that they are a thought leader in the child-rearing space). This week we kicked off our Surrogate Support Group virtual call with some of our current Nodal GCs.
