Why Crash Responder Safety Week (#CRSW) is important and how it aligns with ITE’s mission: ? CRSW directly supports ITE’s mission: #Safety is at the core of everything ITE stands for, and CRSW emphasizes our commitment to creating a safer, more efficient #transportation system. ? Critical role of transportation professionals: Our members are instrumental in developing systems, policies, and public outreach efforts that reduce crash risks and protect responders on the front lines. ? Urgency of addressing traffic incident safety: With nearly 200 responders killed since 2021, CRSW brings attention to the pressing need for coordinated efforts between engineers, planners, and operators to enhance safety at incident scenes. ? Advocating for safer designs: ITE promotes technology-driven solutions that improve incident management, reducing dangers for responders and the public. ? Commitment to professional development: ITE provides members with Traffic Incident Management (TIM) training and resources, equipping them with best practices to implement in their work. ? Shared responsibility: CRSW highlights collaboration—a core value of ITE—reminding us that safety is a collective effort shared by transportation professionals, responders, and road users alike. ?? Every life saved on the roadway is a victory. The #IAFF wants all its members to spread the word and share this important public safety message with your community to be safe when driving near emergencies on the road during #CRSW Week. Tell motorists to look out for first responders and remember to "protect those who protect you."

Today’s social media theme for Crash Responder Safety Week (CRSW) is “More Than a Crash.” The goal is to inform the public that #CRSW isn’t just about safe driver behavior around roadway crashes—it’s about practicing safe driving habits for all roadway incidents, whether it’s a stalled vehicle, roadway debris, or another type of incident. Use this opportunity to explain what Traffic Incident Management (TIM) is and why it’s important. Consider including a link to a video about your region’s TIM program to help spread awareness. ?
