This summer during her Hollings internship with NOAA Fisheries, Hollings scholar Kennedy McGrath learned that applied science is where she feels most impactful. “I think I’m best suited for working directly with shellfish farmers and using my talents to help make their operations more efficient using science,” said Kennedy. https://lnkd.in/eEqfBNRt

This summer, the South Carolina Aquarium hosted the first in-person Coastal Ecosystem Learning Center (CELC) Youth Summit from July 24-27. This CELC Youth Summit was organized by the NOAA Office of Education with support from eeBLUE (North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE)). Teens from the seven different aquariums in the CELC Network participated in networking experiences with speakers from different careers and backgrounds, worked together as a team to construct 26 manufactured wire oyster reefs, and gained insights on developing and executing their own action projects in their aquarium communities. Throughout the whole youth summit experience, the teens bonded with each other and became motivated to advocate for a cause they are passionate about. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gTmkNEyv
