After years of negotiations, U.S. leadership led to several breakthrough outcomes for the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas. The Commission adoped comprehensive conservation and management measures for Atlantic tropical tunas, including bigeye, skipjack, and yellowfin tuna and North Atlantic swordfish. The United States also spearheaded an initiative to better incorporate climate change considerations into the Commission's work, as well as two significant achievements to improve monitoring, control, and surveillance measures in ICCAT fisheries. These advancements will help the organization build toward more flexible, responsive, and adaptive fisheries management. Read more: https://bit.ly/4eE4plI Credit: NOAA Fisheries

Whether it’s out on the farm, on their boats, or in their hatcheries, seafood community members are often the first to notice small shifts in the environment that can lead to big changes to the resources on which we all rely. These cooperative researchers bridge the gap between seafood communities and academic and research institutions—contributing valuable tools and experience to the development of resource management options. Celebrate #SeafoodMonth and meet some of the researchers that work to support a truly sustainable seafood industry: https://bit.ly/3YJZdI1

In the classroom, in the field, in museums and aquariums, education plays a vital role in bridging the gap between science and the seafood on our plates. Seafood educators help foster deep connections with the industry and the delicious food they provide, and inspire future generations. They help people make informed decisions about the seafood they eat, ensuring that both marine ecosystems and the seafood industry thrive for years to come. In celebration of #SeafoodMonth, we're highlighting educators who are spreading the love and knowledge of sustainable seafood: https://bit.ly/3Ahq9pf
