Earlier this week, Gensler proudly joined the Lincoln Square community and our partners Mayor Brandon Johnson 40th Ward Alderman Andre Vasquez Jr. Chicago Department of Public Health Chicago Department of Housing VOA Illinois and Executive Construction Inc. for the groundbreaking of The Haven on Lincoln. Opening its doors next summer, the 40-unit short-term housing solution will provide wraparound health and social services to individuals experiencing homelessness in our community, serving as a haven for those who need it most. This milestone is just the beginning, and I look forward to working alongside our incredible partners to bring this vital, first-of-its-kind project to life!

This achievement represents the culmination of so many voices, visions, and tireless efforts. It has been truly inspiring to witness BUILD Chicago fill their new facility with life and expand the range of services they offer to the community. ? We feel honored to be recognized alongside all of the other outstanding nominees and award recipients. We extend our heartfelt?congratulations?to everyone who was acknowledged at?AIA Chicago’s?Designight 2024. Last Friday, we had the privilege of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for Island Terrace Apartments, a transformative project located just blocks away from the future Obama Presidential Center. Initiated by POAH Chicago, this project will preserve and enhance 240 units of affordable housing in the vibrant Woodlawn neighborhood. We were honored to stand alongside our client Preservation of Affordable Housing, Senator Dick Durbin, Commissioner Lissette Casta?eda of the Chicago Department of Housing, Island Terrace residents, and officials from the Illinois Housing Development Authority and the Department of Housing and Urban Development at this celebration. Their presence underscores the importance of this project and our shared commitment to ensuring access to affordable housing in our city.
