A few weeks ago, we held our annual NMI sales kick-off. It was an incredible (and packed) week of face-to-face conversations, strategy sessions, and discussions with our sales teams and partners! But, it was more than just a work event — it was a reminder that, even in a remote-first environment, there’s no substitute for in-person connection. As a product leader, I see these events as more than an opportunity to kick off the year; they’re a time for our teams to align, challenge assumptions, and reinforce the “why” behind what we’re building. Too often, product and sales operate in parallel when, in reality, we do our best when we move in sync. Our yearly SKOs are the perfect opportunity to equip attendees with the right narratives and to offer hands-on training that they might not receive in their everyday workflows. More importantly, it creates a direct feedback loop that strengthens our roadmap. Seeing our teams rally around the same mission — watching them bring our vision to life — is energizing. This year, we even took things a step further by inviting several of our partners to join us in Orlando for an in-person advisory board. It was one of my favorite parts of this year’s event because while it’s one thing to look at usage data or survey results, it’s another to sit across the table and hear where we’re exceeding expectations (and where we need to do better). SKOs and Partner Advisory Boards aren’t just nice to have — they’re essential. They allow us to share ownership of our strategy, hear unfiltered insights, and sharpen our focus.
