Notice of 2024 Annual Meeting of the Members of NLADA Mutual Insurance Co., RRG: All NLADA Mutual members (those holding an active policy with NLADA Mutual Insurance Co., RRG) have the opportunity to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Members of NLADA Mutual to be held at the NLADA Mutual offices located at 1901 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20006 on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 4:00 pm Eastern Time. This Annual Meeting is being held for the following purposes: - To elect two members to the Board of Directors of NLADA Mutual to serve until the Annual Meeting of the Members to be held in 2027. - To act upon any other matter which may properly come before the meeting. NLADA Mutual sponsored the 2024 conferences of the South East Project Directors Association (SEPDA) and the African American Project Directors Association (AAPDA),?held at the Don CeSar Hotel in St. Pete Beach, FL. Our team enjoyed the sessions and deep discussions centered around the equal justice community. Our President & CEO, Jo-Ann Wallace, spoke about how NLADA Mutual offers the best coverages and pricing and has a unique understanding of this community’s mission-driven work! But people who are incarcerated are too often excluded from conversations about culture, history, the human condition—conversations to which they have much to contribute, if given the chance. The #InsideLiteraryPrize is rebuilding those connections by celebrating the power of reading—and readers—on the inside. It’s the first major U.S. book award to be judged exclusively by people who are currently incarcerated, organized by Freedom Reads, the National Book Foundation, Presenter of the National Book Awards, and Center for Justice Innovation, with support from bookstore owner and podcaster Lori Feathers. More than 200 judges incarcerated across six states have spent months reading, discussing, and ultimately voting for the first winner of the award. In this special episode of New Thinking, we pay a visit to the women’s correctional facility in Shakopee, Minnesota, to hear from some of those judges firsthand about what the Inside Literary Prize means to them. ??
